Bonneville Salt Flats

Experience the unique beauty and thrill of the Bonneville Salt Flats, a world-renowned destination for motorsports and land speed record attempts, located in Utah's West Desert.

Step back in time at the Bonneville Salt Flats, a remnant of the ancient Lake Bonneville that once covered the Great Basin region. The Salt Flats have earned the title of “Fastest Place on Earth” as a hub for land-speed racing events.

Each year, the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) holds Speed Week during the third week of August and the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association hosts the World of Speed in mid-September. The SCTA also organizes the World Finals racing event in early October.

In addition to the excitement of racing, visitors can also take in the stunning views of the surrounding Silver Island Mountains and visit the Flat Plateaus and caves atop Floating Island, a site inhabited by indigenous people over 10,000 years ago.
