Fish Springs

Tooele County is home to the Fish Springs Wildlife Refuge, a stunning natural wonder located just a short distance from Black Rock Station. However, this area also has an important place in history, as it was once a Pony Express Station.

J.H. Simpson, who oversaw the establishment of several Pony Express Stations in the area, placed two small stations in the Fish Springs area. One was Fish Springs, and the other was situated approximately four miles north at the Warm Springs site. Unfortunately, the latter was abandoned due to inclement weather conditions.

Today, visitors can explore the beauty of the Fish Springs Wildlife Refuge and experience the same natural wonder that once served as a vital stop on the Pony Express trail. With stunning mountain vistas and serene wetlands, this area is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Don’t miss the chance to experience the rich cultural and natural heritage of Tooele County.
