Discover the beauty and magic of wild horses in Tooele County! The Onaqui Mountains, located near the southeastern corner of the county, is home to the designated HMA (Herd Management Area) of these magnificent creatures, stretching approximately 30 miles from the foothills between Rush Valley and Vernon to the Simpson Mountains. A large band of wild horses can almost always be seen along the historic Pony Express Road between Simpson Springs and the Old River Bed channel, with smaller bands and individuals also frequenting the areas east of Simpson Springs and north toward Dugway.
